Overview (Duties include, but are not limited) - Must be competent and qualified to perform inpatient Gastroenterology consultations.
- Must be competent and qualified evaluate patients in the outpatient Gastroenterology clinic.
- Must be competent and qualified to perform special procedures such as: Diagnostic EGD, Snare Polypectomy, Variceal Hemostasis, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Liver Biopsy, Total Colonoscopy, Nonvariceal Hemostasis, PEG, Esophageal Dilation with Guidewire, and Paracentesis.
- Shall participate in quality management and utilization review activities, as needed, clinical conferences for staff and shall attend medical staff and service-level meetings, as required.
Qualifications - M.D. or D.O.
- Must have and maintain a current license to practice in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands that allows for the independent practice of clinical services. This license must be current (not revoked, suspended, or lapsed in registration), valid, and unrestricted.
- Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Gastroenterology, or Board Eligible AND within 1 year of completing Gastroenterology Fellowship.
- Must have and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as certified by the American Heart Association.
- Must have the requisite credentials enabling the granting of privileges.
- Must have the appropriate NPI.
- Must provide a copy of the current DEA certificate.
- Experience within a VA facility is preferred.
